"Cherishing Every Life with Heartfelt Service"
Robert Reynolds Henderson, known to many as “Bob,” passed away on December 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Named after his godfather, Senator Robert Rice Reynolds, Bob was an Air Force veteran dedicated to serving his country.
Having completed medical programs at The University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Baylor, and Harvard, Bob served Nashville as an accomplished ophthalmologist and surgeon for many years, demonstrating unparalleled compassion and commitment to his patients. Before specializing in ophthalmology, he worked as a general practitioner in Florida and North Carolina. His medical career was marked by a dedication to improving the lives of those he treated and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Outside of his professional life, Bob had a deep love for history and museums, often spending his free time exploring exhibits and learning about the past. He possessed an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, always eager to discover new things and share his insights with others.
He loved visiting Cheekwood Botanical Gardens as he appreciated nature and botany. At home, he found joy in meticulously cultivating bonsai plants and collecting a wide variety of daylilies.
Bob was a loving and good man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. He is survived by his wife, stepdaughter, sister, nieces, and nephews, who will cherish his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 3rd, at Donelson Presbyterian Church, where family and friends can come together to celebrate his life and the profound impact he had on so many.
Please remember his family, friends and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
Entrusted to the care of Madison Funeral Home.
