Pushpa Wahal Obituary

"Cherishing Every Life with Heartfelt Service"

Smt. Pushpa Wahal departed for her heavenly abode on November 27, 2025 at the age of 82 where she joins her beloved husband, Shri Suresh Nandan Wahal, and her younger son, Sarang Wahal.

Dadima, as her grandchildren called her, was born on November 14, 1943 in Delhi, India. She grew up in a traditional household in the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi. Even decades later, she could perfectly recall every corner, every gully, every vendor in her neighborhood.

She spent several years of her early married life, living at Birla colony of Porbandar, Gujarat and would fondly reminisce about her time there with Dadaji: playing badminton and billiards, taking part in ladies’ club competitions (many of them won by her), attending social events and welfare camps, and enjoying weekly outings with dear friends. It was there that she learnt and discovered her passion for the game of bridge – one that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. With her sharp memory and keen mind, she went on to win several tournaments at the local bridge club. She proudly recounted meeting Queen Elizabeth II in Porbandar, when the Queen graciously complimented her embroidery.

In 1984, she returned to Delhi and later settled in Noida. She moved here to Nashville, Tennessee in 2021 to be with her son and family.

Dadima was the epitome of elegance, hospitality, and creativity. She remained deeply passionate about arts and crafts throughout her life, creating a remarkable collection of paintings during her years in Noida. She carried this passion well into her later years, even as her hands lost some of their nimbleness. Our residence in Nolensville, Tennessee remains beautifully adorned with her artwork. She also enjoyed cooking a wide variety of dishes to welcome guests into our home. She loved to share her enthusiasm, encouraging others to try new recipes with her or to sit beside her and craft an elegant piece of art together.

She loved watching Indian, Pakistani, Turkish, and Iranian television series – her eyes always drawn toward the ornate wardrobe, jewelry, furniture, and decor. She conducted herself with discipline and timeliness, having her meals and tea at specific times and always ready at the appointed time for any social engagement.

Dadima was a deeply religious person, always thanking God for making positive things happen for her family. She observed fasts every Tuesday and Purnima (full moon) with special bhajans and prayers. She considered Hanumanji as her brother and fondly tied Rakhi – a symbol of brother sister bond.

She will always be lovingly remembered by her elder son Tushar, daughters-in-law Shruti and Surabhi, grandchildren Sarthak, Aditi, Samarth and Aria, elder sister Amravati Berry, and all the extended family and friends.

A creative perfectionist and a truthful idealist.

Please remember her beloved family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
