In Loving Memory of our Cherished Mother
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, JOYCE GAY (VAN TASSEL) ROGERS, who left us peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a pillar of strength, compassion, and unwavering love, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
Gay was born on November 4, 1953, in Fresno, CA. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, resilience, and generosity. She dedicated herself to her family, always putting the needs of her children above her own and guiding them with wisdom and love.
She is survived by her loving children: Ronnie (Tony), James (Christy), and Terry (Jeri); five grandchildren: Tom, James (Sydney), Ashley (Kyle), Tanner (Dezarae), Tristan, and her bonus grandchildren: Nick (Kylie), Dillon, Brayden; great-grandchildren: Thomas, Anthony, Jewell, Shalee, Brooke, Phoenix, Ayrlynn, Alanah; her brother: Dwayne Van Tassel;countless other nieces and nephews; in-laws, mother-in-law: Robbie G. Rogers; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Richard (Jacqi), Terry (Alice), and Sherry. Each of us carries a special memory of her warmth, her laughter, and her unconditional support. She taught us the true meaning of family, unity, and perseverance, and her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in us.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents; Claude and Martha Van Tassel, former husband; Douglas E. Rogers, siblings; Everett (Dutch), Lyman, Lois (Sis), Laurene Ray, Marvin, Harvey, Bobby, Alvin, and a great-grandson; Taylen Wayne Rogers.
Our mother had a remarkable ability to bring people together. Her laughter was infectious, filling any room with warmth and joy. Whether hosting family gatherings or lending a helping hand to those in need, she touched countless lives with her selflessness and compassion. Her spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
We invite friends and loved ones to join us in celebrating her life at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Madison Funeral Home.
Although words cannot fully express our sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that she is at peace and her love remains with us always. Rest in peace, dearest mother — you will be deeply missed and forever loved.
