Jordynn Merrell Obituary

Jordynn Calia Merrell was born on December 16, 2014 in Nashville, TN to Teriante Merrell and LaTerrace Kerley, Jordynn unexpectedly gained her wings on February 19, 2025.

Jordynn was a 4th grade student at Hattie Cotton STEM Magnet Elementary School where she was the vice president of the 4-H club and a member of Girl Scout Troup 5954.  She loved attending all the students and her teachers at Hattie Cotton.  She was also on the YMCA swim team.

Jordynn was our princess.  She bounced to the beat of her own drum. She had a colorful personality and spirit. She lived a carefree life, free of inhibitions.   Jordynn had a heart of gold.  She was the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate little soul.  She never had a bad day.  She had an awesome day every day in “Jordynn’s World.”

Jordynn was small in stature but had a profound impact on those whose lives she touched.  She never met a stranger. She would befriend other kids wherever she went, rather it be in a grocery store, at school, or at the park.  She was a helper and loved to help people in any way that she could.  She helped with cooking, with chores, and with her siblings. She loved people and never left the house, got out of the car, or hung up the phone without saying “I love you” and “have a good day”.

Jordynn experienced quite a bit in her 10 years.  She loved to swim, skate, travel, dance and eat.  She was a connoisseur of fine dining.  She loved filet mignon, escargot, sushi, crab, hibachi and fine chocolates.  She loved going to Starbucks and getting her signature Vanilla Chai Tea and a cake pop.  She had also loved watching TikTok, YouTube and engaging in dance battles with her friends.

Jordynn leaves to cherish her memories, loving mother, Teriante Merrell; father, LaTerrace Kerley; Siblings: Jacelynn, J’ael, Javeah and Jelani Felder, LJ Kerley; Devoted grandparents, NaShantee (Kristian) Overton; Grandfathers, Terrance Merrell, Terry Fisher; Grandmother, Sherry Kerley.  Devoted great grandparents, Carolyn (Robert) Moore Blakesleay, Thomas (Pamela) Cartmell;  Aunts:  Atlantis Merrell, Kaydence Overton, Lanayj’ah Knight, Kiera Kerley;  Uncles: Deonte Warren, Dequarium Lumpkin, Keon Knight, Reginald Graham; Great Aunts: Princess (Kevin) Baker, Tracey Merrell, Vickie Christmon, Myra (Carl) Christmon Collins, Sharon Woods; Great Uncles: Thomas Cartmell III, William Christmon;  Devoted cousins: Sierra Jones, Dedrick Woods, Travaris Phillips, Dominique Davis, Zachary and KJ Baker, Tatiana and Joshua Cartmell; Extended Family: Flemings, Cartmells, Johnsons, Chandlers, Overtons;  Godmother, Chanesia Sweat and a host of other relatives.  Close friends: Brooklyn, Ariel, Maryn, Talin, Jayla, Eliajah, Dalilah and Deidriana.
