Dr. Gregory Smith

SMITH, DR. GREGORY E., age 51, passed away September 30, 2009. Preceded in death by father, Eugene Smith. Survived by wife, Peggy Marie Smith; daughter, Laura Smith; step-daughter, Corrine Stinson; step-son, David Stinson; mother, Carole Chitwood; sister, Anita Smith. Dr. Smith graduated from Father Ryan High School, Emory University, and the Southern College of Optometry. He practiced Optometry in Denver until 1993, then in Davidson and Wilson County until he established his private practice in Lebanon, TN. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a master craftsman, who delighted in the restoration of his antebellum home BelleAir. According to his wishes, a cremation is planned. Visitation with his family Monday, October 5 at St. Josephs Church, Madison, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral mass with Rev. Joe McMahon and Rev. Patrick Kibby as co-celebrants. Lasting memorials may be made to St. Joseph School or the American Heart Society.
